The 12 Eureka Moments Every Couple Needs for a Lasting Connection

I've been married to my husband for twenty years now. We hit our big anniversary this past November. Even after two decades together, I can tell you that marriage isn't always easy. We've got five pets and five outdoor cats who visit almost every day, so our house is full, but sometimes our communication feels like it's hit a wall. I'm sure you know the feeling where you just keep having the same old argument over and over. It's like being stuck in a loop, and you can't find the exit. Note: This is an original image; AI was only used to "clean" up a small part of the image. I recently got my hands on a copy of Dr. Emerson Eggerichs' new book, Lightbulb Moments in Marriage . You might know him from his famous book Love and Respect. I was really excited to check this one out because I love a good book that's pretty to look at. This one has a clean, white cover with bright yellow highlights that really pop. It's not just a nice-looking b...

The Ultimate Guide to Pet-Friendly Gnat Elimination in Your Home

Are you tired of those annoying, tiny visitors known as gnats? I sure am! It seems like every year around the same time, they make an appearance and torment me for at least 2-3 weeks. And if you're like me, not only do you require gnat elimination, but you need it to be pet-friendly, too.

What Attracts Gnats?

Before we dive into the solutions, let's first understand why gnats are attracted to our homes.

  • Overripe/rotting fruits and vegetables
  • Moisture (e.g., leaky pipes, damp towels)
  • Stagnant water (e.g., plant saucers)

Now that we know where these itty-bitty invaders come from let's move on to the solutions!

Pet-Friendly Gnat Busters

1. Apple Cider Vinegar Trap

This is my absolute go-to method for gnat elimination because it's so simple and oh-so effective.

What You'll Need:

How to Do It:

  1. Fill the dish with apple cider vinegar.
  2. Add a drop or two of dish soap.
  3. Mix gently, and place the dish near the gnat-infested area.

Watch as the tiny nuisances get attracted to the smell of vinegar and eventually become trapped in the soapy mixture. Mwahaha!

2. Bananas (Yep, You Read That Right!)

Gnats can't resist the sweet smell of ripe bananas. It's time to use their weakness against them!

What You'll Need:

  • A ripe banana
  • Plastic wrap
  • A small container
  • Toothpick

How to Do It:

  1. Place a piece of the banana in the container.
  2. Cover the container with plastic wrap.
  3. Poke tiny holes in the wrap using a toothpick.

As gnats enter through the tiny holes lured by the fruity aroma, they will find it hard to escape. Diabolical chuckle!

3. Lemongrass Essential Oil Spray

This method not only helps in getting rid of gnats but also fills your home with a lovely, refreshing aroma. Ah!

How to Do It:

  1. Fill the spray bottle with water.
  2. Add 15-20 drops of lemongrass essential oil.
  3. Shake the mixture well and spray it onto windowsills, doorways, or any other entry points for gnats.
