My husband and I have never been the type to hop on a plane for a big vacation. Most of our trips over 20 years of marriage have been short drives to see family or a weekend somewhere close to home here in southeast Alabama. So when I read about the book  From Sea to Shining Sea: 50 Daily Devotions from Traveling to Every State in America , I wasn't sure a book built around road trips to all 50 states would speak to someone like me. It turns out you don't have to be a traveler to get something real out of this one. This devotional comes from H. Eugene Frame, his wife Marsha Frame, and their son John Christopher Frame. Gene and Marsha have been married almost 60 years, and somewhere along the way they made it their goal to visit every state in the country. This book is what came out of that decades-long adventure, and it reads less like a travel journal and more like a quiet conversation with two people who've clearly spent a lifetime paying attention to where God shows up...

I've always been fascinated by near-death experience stories. There's something about hearing that someone died, saw something on the other side, and came back to talk about it that I just can't look away from. Are they really seeing Heaven?
